Mr Sylvain USHER, Directeur Executif de L'AAEA
For one week, the Republic of Guinea will be the water and sanitation capital of Africa for the 22 nd AFWASA International Congress and Exhibition, to be held from 18 to 22 nd February 2024, under the topic "Supporting human development through investment in the water and sanitation sector". The world's leading experts, researchers and industrialists will discuss the burning issue of access to water and sanitation services on the continent, but also to explore innovative and sustainable solutions that will improve the quality of life of our fellow citizens. Water is a precious commodity, an essential resource to life. However, too many of our fellow citizens do not have adequate access to drinking water, and sanitation conditions in many countries are unsatisfactory. It is therefore our duty, as an Association and as sons of Africa, to remedy this situation and ensure that every one of our fellow citizens has access to clean, safe water and adequate sanitation. To achieve this, we need to share our knowledge, experience and best practice. We need to listen to internationally renowned experts, local stakeholders, NGOs and governments. So this congress will not just be a forum for discussion, it will be a platform for solutions and actions. That's why I'm delighted that it's being held here in Conakry, Guinea, a country that has been nicknamed the water tower of West Africa. I wish you all a good congress!
